Thrift store finds and games we play

Last Saturday I found this hat and this gorgeous coat for Ashley at the thrift store. I did not get a good picture of the front of the coat. I will have to take another picture of it this Sunday.

I just love them! Love them! Love them! She got lots of compliments on Sunday!

You may not be able to tell but Aussie got his hair cut Sunday afternoon. He let me take this one picture of him. I wish I could have gotten a real smile from him instead of this silly one.

Every night when I cuddle with Ashley we play the game- "I love you more". I always get tickled when she rattles off, " I love you more than you love me, end of story, exit and yours is fiction, goodnight."

Recently, I've been playing another game with them. Ashley and Mason really get into it, but Aussie is too 'grown up' for it. I ask them if they are my favorite? I do it in front of the others. Mason gets tickled and tells me he is my favorite and no one else. Aussie just says, "We are all your favorite!"

You should have seen the look on their faces when I first started this game. We were all in the car and Aussie did something, I don't even remember what and I said, "Well that's why he's my favorite." All of them looked at me like did she just say that. So I asked Aussie, "Well are you my favorite?" And he just smiled and said, "Mommm". Don't worry they all know it's a game! I play it equally with all of them.

Yes it is that time of year again when Nashvillians go crazy! By noon today all the schools were closed for tomorrow. There is not flake of snow in the air yet and every grocery store has no meat, little milk and no eggs. I needed boneless chicken breasts. I went to Aldi first since they close at 8:00. I don't usually buy my meat there but they didn't have any anyway. I did grab a gallon of milk just in case Kroger or Wal Mart didn't have any.

Then I went to Wal Mart because my husband needed some jeans. There was NO meat to be found. I mean COME ON! We might get 2 inches of snow- I just want some chicken breasts for 2 meals I plan to have this week. Oh well I still have Kroger to go to for that special tea my husband wants. I leisurely shopped Wal Mart. I love to shop. I got his jeans and I found a bread machine on clearance for $25. I have actually been looking for one at the local thrift stores. They were running $16-$20 and they were all dirty. So I was quite excited to find one at Wal Mart.

Then I drove to Kroger and guess what? NO MEAT! Oh wait they did have some ground beef. I thought WELL I guess I have to change my menu because everybody in Nashville is stocking up ALL the chicken because we are going to all be snowed in for at least a WHOLE DAY!

I decided to fill up the gas tank because I really didn't want to get gas when it is freezing outside. Well and I had to get gas just in case we get snowed in, our electricity goes off and we have to sleep in the car with the car running for heat. (just kidding)

On the way home Greg called and asked if I had gotten kids' toothpaste. So I stopped at one more store. The little Comptons close by our house. They had chicken! I'm sure I paid an arm and a leg for it, but by golly we will be having Sweet and Sour chicken and Chicken Alfredo this week.

OK now let's look at where my parent's live...

WIDESPREAD SNOWFALL OF 3 TO 5 INCHES WILL BE POSSIBLE BY DAYBREAK FRIDAY WITH ADDITIONAL AMOUNTS EXPECTED INTO FRIDAY NIGHT. BY DAYBREAK SATURDAY SOME LOCATIONS IN THE WATCH AREA COULD HAVE A TOTAL STORM ACCUMULATION OF A FOOT OF SNOW. UM NO school closings and they already have snow on the ground.

I laugh every year when they start closing schools here. Well I guess I thought I could wait up until it started snowing but it's 2:45AM and I'm too sleepy. Goodnight.

We rang in the New Year with some sparkling grape juice and some fresh Italian homemade flat bread.

Both were DELICIOUS!

Greg and I also watched 3 episodes of 24.

I LOVE that show!

Jack Bower is awesome!

We have joked around with each other that we were having a threesome when we go to watch the show. It will be just you, me and Jack.

And that's as FAR as we take that joke believe me!

So before bedtime Mason brought me one of his favorite Christmas gifts, a moose he named Antlers.

He told me that I could sleep with him last night.

So Antlers was included in our rendezvous with Jack.

In the morning, Aussie played the Wii and I helped Mason build one of his Lego sets that he got for Christmas.

Really I should say that I was only there for support, because he was doing an excellent job doing it all by himself.

And while Aussie played the Wii, and as we put together Legos, Greg and Ashley were working really hard- but you will get to read all about that in the next post.

Ashley called us on the walkie talkie and told us we really needed to see something. So Mason went to get dressed and we headed out to see what they had to show us.

Let me just say that I am very thankful Mason has prayed every single night that we not have a fire in our house!

You would probably think that one of the kids did this to our poor kitty. But I have to admit I did it. I was trying to think of some New Year's pictures to take so I dressed her up. She did not like it one bit. Poor Tika!

Today this little girl has been a loud mouth! I think she may be partly deaf, but she was meowing like nobody's business! She has been crying and talking nonstop. I started getting worried about her, so I looked it up on the Internet. It sounds as though she is in heat. Yep- it's time to take her to the vet! Right now she has quieted down. I hope she stays that way through the night. I'll have to see if the vet is open tomorrow, if not we are in for a long weekend.
