Visiting Parents Day 1

We went to Beotler Park today. Mom and I walked around the park while Greg took the kids to the playground.  After not finding the walking path right away, Dad thought it was too hot so he napped in the car.

We came across this barn on our walk.  I think it is so peaceful.

 Oh how beautiful!
 That's my Dad and me.
I didn't get any of the kids playing on the playground since I was walking the trail.  But I did get pictures of them when they went out in the paddle boat with Greg.

Aussie and Ashley jumped in.  They had a hard time getting back in the boat.  Mason wanted to but it started thundering so they came back in. I was a nervous wreck! Greg let them jump out a little too far from the dock for my preference!

I got my pottery back!

Well I am once again tickled with my painted pottery pieces!  I got them back today and I love them! I wanted to make a 6-8 pc. set but they were a little more expensive than I originally thought.  So I only made four. Maybe I can go back at some other point and finish the set.
I'm not sure you are able to tell from the pictures but these are nice deep cereal bowls. And yes I intend to use them.
This one below was the last one I did and I was running out of time.  I didn't know if I got all the coats on it or not.  It turns out it is my favorite one.

If I did make 2 more, I have no idea what colors I would choose, maybe an orange one with purple and pink one with teal.

Well last Saturday when I went to paint, the kids had auditions for the next kid's summer play.  It is an original and I think it is called Paper Bag Princess.  I have to be honest.  I didn't want to go to auditions.  We didn't pick out a song until the last minute and I don't think they had much time to practice it.  Unfortunately, the piece the boys picked was HARD! It was Sondheim's Another hundred people. I don't have a recording of the boys singing it, but you can hear the song here to get an idea of how hard it was.  Now with that being said, Mason nailed it! And Aussie didn't do so well BUT he nailed the reading.  The director said he had them in stitches. Ashley sang a song from Sondheim's Pacific Overtures called The Advantages of Floating in the Middle of the Sea. We could not find music to accompany her so we sent music sheets with her for the accompanist to play.  I was nervous since she hadn't practiced at all with an accompanist.  Anyway, it turned out that the accompanist wasn't coming until later in the day so she sang it a capella, which I think actually turned out for the better.  I don't have a recording of her but you can hear the song she sang here.

After they auditioned they met me at McDonald's for lunch.  Ashley begged to come back to the pottery store and paint with me.  So she came back with me and she painted this horse.

Yes, it's cute. Yes she had some great Mommy time. Yes, she loved doing it and well I should stop there, but I can't help but think I could have painted almost 2 more bowls for the price of the horse. !Ay Caramba!
Oh well I love her and she had fun!

So back to the play, Ms. Cori wanted Mason to come back on Monday to read for a specific part. Unfortunately, Mason got sick.  We thought it might have been car sickness, but later that day I got sick too.  So maybe it was something we ate.  Anyway, instead of going back to read we were able to record him reading the part and send it to Ms. Cori.

We were told their roles for sure on Tuesday.
Ashley will play one of the sassy trees.
Aussie will play the jester. (We had to talk him into this.  Even though he is hysterical and has awesome timing, he doesn't like to be laughed at.)
And Mason got the role of Prince Ronald.

I'm really tickled about it.  They had so many kids sign up that they had to do 2 casts. I have no idea what cast will be on what day.  And I'm sure Ms. Cori doesn't know yet either, since they haven't started practicing.

Their performances will be June 28- June 30, July 1, July 5th-7th.

Haircuts

The boys got their haircut last night.  If you haven't seen them in awhile you could hardly tell. I called them in one by one to take their picture.  Mason messed his up, but is still cute.
Aussie is still mad at me for making him get his hair cut!
Here are his reactions:
 Nooooooooooooooooooooo!
 Aw! Dang!
 WHY......
Why do you want to take a picture of me?

If he would have just posed for the picture then I wouldn't have such a good blog post now would I?

Cannonsburg

Yesterday we went to Cannonsburg in Murfreesboro.  It was make-up picture day and I had to be there to run things.  The kids thought they would be bored but they had a fun time running around.

I really have a lot on my plate right now.  I have 2 weeks to create the yearbook and I don't have all the pictures yet.  I have to get ready for my classes on Friday.  I also have to edit pictures for the 2nd Idol camp.  Did I tell you about that?  Ashley and I went last Sunday to watch the 2nd Idol camp perform, when we got there Ms. Cori looked at me and said, "Oh! I was going to call you about taking pictures."  I happened to have my camera in the car.  So I took pictures.  She called me her hero!  Anyway, I've got to get those pictures edited and to her pretty soon.

But what I REALLY want to do is scrapbook.  When Doris was here she introduced me to a scrapbook challenge.  You have to find specific items and then you scrapbook with those items.  Well I've gathered my kit but I haven't had a chance to do anything with it.  It's killing me.  It's just sitting there taunting me.

Easter 2012

And here we go, in no particular order the pictures from Easter day.
I really don't have much to say so I'll let the pictures do the talking.
