Easter Weekend

Easter weekend and we were busy!  Ashley had wanted a friend to come and play all week long over Spring Break and no one was able to come over until Friday.

Friday, my friend Doris, her son Gabriel and Ashley's friend Nora came to play.

They all played quite well together.  It might be because we had some events planned.

Before Doris and G got here, Ashley and Nora played with their American Girl dolls.

Then we colored Easter eggs.  The dye that I got this year was horrible!  I got a 2nd kit but it came with very little and you had to paint it on.  Not too easy with several people trying to use it.

Then we had a glow in the dark Easter egg hunt.  Last year's was better and more colorful.  This year I bought tiny glow sticks off the internet.  The ones that were all the same color were the cheapest so I bought those thinking the vibrant plastic eggs would provide the color.  However, they really didn't.  It had been raining all day, so we decided to have the egg hunt in the house.  It was still fun!

As I edited these I made ALL of them into web format.  So there are several of the sameish picture, but I'm not going to take the time to pick which one to put so I'll put them all here.

After the egg hunt the kids got really creative!  They decided to have an awkward dance competition.  I didn't watch the whole thing but from my seat in the kitchen Aussie was the clear winner!  But when I got up to take pictures it appears that Gabriel may have been the winner.  You choose from the pictures below:

Mason was the commentator, DJ and judge.  The girls were out first because they were too graceful!

At the end of the night, Mason declared Aussie the winner.  An argument came about where G thought he should have been the winner.  He thought Aussie's moves weren't original and he thought his moves were the most awkward.  What in the world does a mother do in this situation?  I laughed and stayed out of it.  Seriously, should I say no THIS child here is the CLEAR winner of the AWKWARD competition?

Nora spent the night and when her Mom picked her up the next day Aussie was telling her Mom how they had an awkward dance competition and her daughter did a really good job!

HA!  I then stumbled over my words to make it sound better, "Well she was one of the first out because her moves were too pretty."

But before she left we went to our church's annual Easter egg hunt.  It had
also been moved inside because of the rain.  The kids were separated into groups by their age.  I decided to take a few pictures of  the 4&5th graders first coming around the corner.

And I particularly like this picture of Edie showing Ashley, Mason and Nora something on her Dad's phone.

I think I'll wait until tomorrow to share Easter day pictures.
