another layout- I'm on a roll

I saw Stephanie Howell's layout similar to this and I knew I just had to copy it! I love the other one she has pictured with it as well.

The journaling reads:

Takes Tiger Lily everywhere she goes * Loves doing crafts * Loves playing Zelda and Mario Kart * Wants to do girly things without her brothers * Loves to draw and write in her diary * Likes fries, chicken and sunflower seeds.

My sillies

These are my sillies at church on Sunday.

Daddy started reading the Hobbit to them.

And these are t-shirts that one of Greg's workmates gave to him (new). The kids LOVE to wear Daddy's t-shirts to bed- Hey it save us money on pajamas! And all those red cross t-shirts are coming in handy!
And here are a couple of layouts I did yesterday and today.

scrapbooking challenges

Ah how I love challenges!

I did this one a little while ago. Dana and I decided to give ourselves challenges. She picked two layouts that she liked and we had to try to combine those layouts. One had the title split and the other had flowers going down the page. This is what I came up with.
We are doing another challenge if you would like to play along let me know. We don't give out prizes or anything, we are just doing it to keep ourselves scrapping.
Here's a layout I did for one of Doris' classes. I even used the picture she took at the kids' birthday.
This was a fun challenge. You had to use a piece of junk mail in your layout. I happened to get a mini catalog for personalized notecards. All those rectangles are various notecards.
And this was loosely based on a challenge Doris and her friend did. You had to use fall colors with a twist (which I didn't do the twist) and use cardboard and other stuff. And it was also for Jann's challenge to use a b&w photo and use lots of texture to make your picture shine.

Hit the Books layout

I did a quick layout today.
It was a sketch challenge. I'm not really good at sketch challenges, but I thought I would give it a try.

You can find this challenge here.
Here is the sketch:

Learning about Bees

Today we went on a field trip to look at bees and see how they work.

I learned that the fuzzy bees are male and they don't have stingers. You can actually pick these up. (Not that I would but you could)

When a bee finds some good nectar she goes back to the hive and does a bee dance and points the way to go with her body for the others to find it.

The male bees are mainly there to eat and to mate and they die after they mate. When they have too much too eat the females kick them out of the hive and don't let them back in. And so eventually they will die without food.

When it is time for a new queen they feed one of the eggs with extra nutrients. When that queen hatches, if the queen that already exists is feeble it will be attacked by the new queen. If the old queen is a very productive queen then it lets off a scent that says anyone who wants to come with me come now. And it will leave with several following behind and set up camp somewhere else. The whole thing was very fascinating to me!

I loved the little bee suits they had for the kids to get a close look.

And we got to bring home some of the honey too. YUM!

Oh and here is a layout I did today:

What if?

While we were out today I saw a young girl wearing a shirt and I was wondering outloud what it said. Greg looked over and told me it said, will trade brother for a pony.

So I asked Ashley if she would trade her brothers for a pony. She got this crazed look and grinned from ear to ear saying, "Ponies" She nodded yes.

So I look down on the table and saw these "What if?" questions and I decided to ask the kids. Mason was in his own little world so here are Aussie and Ashley's answers.

What if you could have a wild animal for a pet; what would you choose.

Aussie: A lion

Ashley: Pony pronounced poh neeeeeeeee

What if you had a million dollars; how would you spend it?

Aussie: I would buy my own house and then I would use a little bit of the money to buy 1000 cats.

Ashley: I would buy a Poh---neeeeeeeeee.

What if you were President of the U.S.A for one day; what would you do?

Aussie: I would make it so the kids were the bosses instead of the grown-ups

Me: And that is why you would be president for only one day!

Ashley: I would make a lot of money and buy a poh-----neeeeeee.

What if you had a genie that granted one wish per day: how would you use them?

Aussie: I would ask the genie to grant me wishes anytime I wanted them.

Ashley: I would ask for a poh----neeeeee.

What if you could travel back in time; when and where would you go?

Aussie: I would go back and try to find the planet Daddy made up when he was a kid.

Ashley: I would go where there is lots of ponies.

What if you were stranded on an island with one possession; what would it be?

Aussie: What is a possession?

Me: It's a thing that you have (well or don't have) that you can take with you.

Aussie: I'd say an army

Me: yah I know I know a p...

Ashley: a horse

So anyway.... here is a layout I completed today:

Have a great day!

Being helpful!

Well I'm "trying" to be helpful! I was just trying to show Dana's baby the way out. Come on sweet boy- it's time to come out and see Miss Chelle.
Dana got to come over for a couple of hours today and we got to scrapbook. I made this layout. I always struggle with titles- so Greg came up with this one.

-----------------------------------
We had such a busy day today! But schooling was completed and we even did some of it in Target. We ate the $1.50 popcorn combo and I read Charlotte's Web to them. I also got them to do their language lessons and reading there too. I have to say it is a joy to hear them say please read more. That is not common around here unless they don't want to go to bed.

Color combo challenge

I've been trying to do these color combo challenges. They have been fun! You get a new color combo each week and then you try to use those colors in a layout. With my room organized it makes it so much easier to join in on these challenges!

Here is color combo #81

and here is the layout I created.

Scrapbooking

I had such a wonderful weekend! Dana had a free night at a local hotel. So we took our scrapbooking stuff and scrapbooked in the breakfast area of the lobby until 2 in the morning. The workers there suggested that we do it there. We challenged each other and I got quite a bit done.

This was a 30 minute challenge. It actually came together quite easily.

I had started several layouts that I was able to finish this weekend. These are them:

This was a make-n-take I made years ago at some convention. So I finally finished it.

This was a challenge. We needed to use these little paper samples and use them. I also took the little black circles out of her trash and used it.

Then I challenged myself to use these square titles. They are old scrapbook supplies, that at the time I thought were the greatest thing.

I think I probably need to add something like a title to this one.

I'm not sure when I did this, but it didn't get posted. It wasn't long ago though.
